ZHGAS invited to participate in the Guangxi Campaign for Transformation of 100 Major Scientific and Technological Achievements from the Chinese Academy of Sciences

From June 23rd to 24th, 2025, the Guangxi Campaign for Transformation of 100 Major Scientific and Technological Achievements from the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly hosted by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Department of Science and Technology and the Guangzhou Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Nanning, Guangxi. As the core industrialization platform of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, ZHGAS was invited to participate with its "Biomass Circulating Fluidized Bed Gasification Technology for Green Chemical Products," aiming to assist Guangxi's green transformation with innovative technology.

At the exhibition, this technology garnered significant attention due to its groundbreaking innovations. Its unique staged gasification process successfully overcame industry challenges such as difficulty in controlling tar during biomass gasification, poor raw material adaptability, and unstable operation. It can produce high-quality syngas with ultra-low tar content under atmospheric pressure conditions. This breakthrough has laid a technological foundation for the efficient conversion of biomass resources.

Based on the aforementioned technological advantages, ZHGAS has established diverse green product conversion pathways. By transforming low-value biomass such as agricultural waste and forestry residues into clean syngas, it can flexibly produce green hydrogen, green methanol, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Simultaneously, it provides low-carbon solutions for industries like steel, lithium, and carbon, fully unleashing the green carbon source value of biomass.

This technology has now achieved engineering implementation. Currently, ZHGAS has initiated two biomass-to-green methanol projects and is constructing a demonstration project for biomass gasification to green gas. During this exhibition, the team specifically emphasized the technology's high adaptability to Guangxi's biomass, forestry waste, and agricultural waste resources, providing strong support for localized applications.

ZHGAS's exhibition booth welcomed visits from Lu Xinning, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vice Chairman of the Autonomous Region People's Government, along with energy enterprise representatives and industry experts. During in-depth discussions, leaders from the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics provided a detailed introduction to the technology's three core characteristics: "renewable raw materials, clean processes, and green products." CCTV Guangxi Station and Guangxi Radio and Television conducted special interviews with ZHGAS’s technical team, highlighting how this technology offers an innovative path to convert Guangxi's distinctive agricultural and forestry waste into high-value fuels. Several enterprises expressed on site that the technology perfectly aligns with Guangxi's clean energy transition needs and holds strategic value for achieving the region's "dual carbon" goals.

ZHGAS will leverage this exhibition as an important opportunity to continue deepening its technological research and development and regional cooperation strategies. Subsequently, the company will gradually promote the large-scale application of biomass gasification technology in the Guangxi region, focusing on the strategic implementation of high-end application projects such as biomass-to-green hydrogen and green methanol. By collaborating with upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain, ZHGAS aims to jointly explore a new integrated development model of "efficient resource utilization - technology conversion - end-use application," thereby injecting strong technological impetus into Guangxi's ecological civilization construction.
