CGAS Technology Passes Technical Evaluation by Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment!

Recently, the CGAS Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Gasification Technology, developed by CAS Hefei Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ZHGAS), successfully passed expert technical evaluation organized by the Environmental Development Center (EDC) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE).

Recently, the CGAS Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Gasification Technology, developed by CAS Hefei Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ZHGAS), successfully passed expert technical evaluation organized by the Environmental Development Center (EDC) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE). The assessment concluded:

The technology qualifies as clean production technology and has been successfully applied in syngas and industrial fuel gas production, achieving large-scale market adoption with promising prospects. It enables efficient and stable gasification of low-rank and inferior coal, aligning with national policies for modern coal chemicals and clean production.


Earlier, the EDC convened an evaluation meeting for the CGAS Technology in Jimsar County, Xinjiang. Experts conducted an all-round, multi-dimensional assessment through:

 

  • On-site inspections,

  • Technical briefings,

  • Document reviews,

  • Q&A sessions.

 

The expert committee confirmed:

 

  • The process generates zero tar or phenol pollutants;

  • Wastewater is treated to standards and fully recycled without discharge;

  • Fly ash and slag are comprehensively utilized;

  • Plant areas operate under near odor-free conditions.

 

The technology demonstrates global innovation in:

 

  • Temperature partitioning control for high-ash/high-carbon concentration zones;

  • Flow field regulation and reaction optimization in CFB gasifiers;

  • Temperature-matching wall-temperature control in waste heat recovery systems;

  • Anti-slagging gas-sealing for ash discharge pipes.


CGAS Technology—developed over a decade by the CAS Institute of Engineering Thermophysics based on CFB combustion—was selected for the CAS Hongguang Initiative, a key program for transforming scientific achievements. As the industrial platform for this initiative, ZHGAS has advanced CGAS commercialization with core strengths:
